New Zealand Deerstalkers Association

North Auckland Branch

We promote safe, responsible use of firearms, and a respect for native flora and fauna. We believe in the principle of public ownership of wildlife generally, and seek to prevent the creation of privileged hunting / exclusive access to the publicly owned fish and wildlife assets that belong to all New Zealanders

Welcome to the North Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Deerstalkers.

The NZDA was founded in 1937 to promote recreational hunting and shooting sports.  It is a national body with branches throughout New Zealand. The North Auckland Branch was established in 1958, on its current property at Riverhead - see map on right.  The NZDA is involved in the following activities on members’ behalf.

  • Youth activity programmes
  • Hunting and bush craft training
  • Public access for recreational activities
  • Game animal protection and management
  • Firearms safety training
  • National shooting competitions
  • The building and maintenance of huts
  • Participation in the conservation debate
  • Communication with members through magazines and newsletters
